Philip R. Liebman performs the role of aleadership performance catalyst and is an expert advisor and coach to company CEOs and their senior leadership. His expertise is in building and driving High Performance Organizations (HPOs) based on developing fully competent leadership, people and smart organizational systems that realize the performance potential of organizations and the people that serve and make them.
Mr. Liebman earned his Master of Leadership Arts and Science (MLAS) at The Thayer Institute, where he studied directly under and has been personally mentored by Dr. Lee Thayer, considered one of the world’s foremost authorities on organizational leadership and High-Performance Organizations. Dr. Thayer’s 60-year career has included professorships at Harvard Business School, The Wharton School and many notable universities throughout the world. He is the author of more than 30 books on related topics.
Mr. Liebman has authored numerous published articles on leadership and organizational competency and has spoken throughout North America on various leadership topics and has authored a book, “Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Competence”- due to be published in early 2018. He is currently a Fellow at The Thayer Institute where he also serves an adjunct faculty member. Additionally, Mr. Liebman is also an award-winning Group Chairman with Vistage International, where since 2005 he has coached and mentored CEOs of small and middle-market companies while leading and facilitating peer advisory boards. During this time he has logged more than 10,000 hours of professional C-Level coaching.
Prior to his current roles, Mr. Liebman helped launch several equity-funded startups, where he was personally responsible for developing the business plans and raising capital. In serving his eclectic creative interests and talents, Mr. Liebman founded a commercial photography studio in New York City’s Photo District, and launched an independent jazz recording label. He also served as General Manager and a key advisor to a US Congressional Campaign.
Among his own professional leadership roles, Mr. Liebman served as Co-Founder and Co-CEO of Blue Moon Brands, a natural/specialty food manufacturer and importer; a board-level advisor to LearnToReadOnline.com, a distance learning company; senior leadership at Maxverse International, a consumer electronic and technology subsidiary of Toymax International (a public company acquired by Jakks Pacific, Inc. JAKS); founder and CEO of ecoMedia Publishing Enterprises; and President and Chief Creative Officer of Mailographic Company, Inc./MDirect Advertising.
During his 20 years with Mailographic/MDirect, Mr. Liebman worked with industry leaders in the financial services, publishing, telecommunications, consumer products and hi-tech sectors. This multiple award-winning company provided innovative marketing communication solutions and expertise in the areas of customer acquisition and retention, corporate communications as well as direct mail and print production management. Phil has also advised clients on product development, brand positioning and brand management strategies.
Mr. Liebman has served as the Board Chairman and trustee for a local museum as well as on the boards of several trade groups and a regional youth soccer league. His personal interests include Leadership and The Arts as an expression of his passion to champion youth leadership and arts programs. He is married with four (mostly) grown children. He, his wife and their golden retriever live in New York’s Lower Hudson Valley.
