Gabe Jacinto is focused on medical device development in the spaces of Hernia, Minimally Invasive Wound Closure, and Endomechanical Adjuncts. Gabe has over 20 years of industry experience, with the last 16 within Johnson & Johnson. He has experience in devices ranging from general surgery, orthopedic impants, cardiovascular, and women’s health. Gabe has co-authored several publications in related areas of development.
Gabe joined Ethicon in 1999 as a member of the New Product Development Quality Engineering team gaining increasing responsibility. During this time, he contributed as core team member to the lauch of multiple novel products. In addition, his teams were directly involved across in successful product launches across all Ethicon business units. In 2004, he took on the role of Director of R&D – Design Excellence, where his team launched a new product development process and trained scientists and engineers throughout the globe in best practices. Also, he has also involved in identification of new product opportunities (white space) for Ethicon. Since 2007, Gabe and his team has been focused on delivering solutions for hernia repair. He was the program leader for the development and launch of SECURESTRAP™, the company’s first offering in the area of absorbable mesh fixation devices. This was the first in a multi-generational approach to fixation solutions that derive their differentiated performance in large part as a result of the underlying material technologies and sound engineering. As a result, Gabe was selected as a 2013 Johnson Medal winner.
Currently, Gabe has the overall responsibility for new product development in several areas:
• Hernia fixation & biosurgery device development
• Minimally invasive suturing devices
• Endomechanical tissue effects and adjunct devices.
The team’s focus is on enriching and delivery pipelines in each of the respective areas.
